About Me

Kate Maher is the faculty co-director for the design degree programs at the Stanford d.school, where she is exploring how design can accelerate innovation in sustainability, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and enable a new generation to discover and advance sustainable solutions. Kate is also a professor in the Doerr School of Sustainability and a Senior Fellow in the Woods Institute for the Environment. Her research focuses on nature-based solutions for climate change.  Kate has also worked with federal agencies to build cultures of innovation within scientific teams. As the faculty co-director for the Design degree programs, she leads the climate+environment domain and is focused on facilitating connections between design students and the solutions-oriented work occurring across Stanford.
