How we build a creative culture

We’re continually working to set the tone in how we model creative behavior. It’s about more than the physical space—it’s about fostering a creative mindset and a sense of belonging. We encourage an environment that can boost energy, focus thinking, and nurture connections. 

People often ask us how to start a “d.school.” The real answer is, there’s no foolproof recipe. Every context has its own contours. Every culture has its own quirks. 

What we can share is how the Stanford d.school came to be.
