Emma Duncan

Interdisciplinary Ethics Fellow

Explorer of ethics

I completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy at UC San Diego, where my doctoral research focused on how relationships shape the norms of interpersonal influence. I received an M.A. in Philosophy from Northern Illinois University and B.A. degrees in Philosophy and Graphic Design from Portland State University. I am currently working with the fantastic instructors at the d.school to build an ethics presence in every design class in a way that is additive across the curriculum and unique to each course. I am also a Postdoctoral Fellow at the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society, where my research is focused on (i) the ethics of human-AI relationships and (ii) understanding and addressing distrust as a driver of vaccine hesitancy.
