Design to Equip Learners in Under-Resourced Communities
Schools and learning communities are facing unprecedented challenges today. From the advancement of AI and the impact of climate change to the imperative of ensuring each child receives the necessary support in a rapidly changing world, the need to bolster educational communities has never been more critical. In this project-based course, students will foster partnerships with local and global communities, gaining the opportunity to explore and experiment with design techniques and tools. This hands-on approach allows them to co-create solutions that are contextually relevant and responsive to the needs of the communities they partner with and serve. The course offers an applied exploration of human-centered design, learning sciences, digital technologies, and education entrepreneurship. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the skills necessary to drive meaningful change for learners in any community.
