  • For Olatunde (Tunde) Sobomehin, design is a framework for imagining futures that haven't yet been built.

That belief drives StreetCode Academy, the organization he co-founded in East Palo Alto, California, to equip young people from underrepresented communities with the mindsets, skills, and access to hack, hustle, and design their own futures.

At the d.school, Tunde found language for the work he was already doing in the community as well as a stage to share it. The defining moment came on two stools in front of a whiteboard, where a 20-minute conversation with a d.schooler named sam seidel ended with two words: creative hustle. That conversation became a class, a book, and a lifelong friendship.
