2026 Book Talk: Creative Essentials Featuring Kelli Anderson

You’re invited to our community book club, where we're sitting down with designers to chat about Creative Essentials.

We’d love for you to join us on May 12 for our 2026 Book Club: Creative Essentials session, featuring Kelli Anderson.

In this virtual session, Kelli will explore the Creative Essential: Master something (doesn’t matter what). She’ll share how focusing deeply on a particular area—with a sense of awe and curiosity—can open the door to previously unimaginable ideas, creations, and entirely new ways of seeing the world(s) we live in.

Kelli is the author of Alphabet in Motion: How Letters Get Their Shape, an interactive pop-up book that explores the history of typography through 17 kinetic paper constructions. Known for using design magic to connect people with the depth and possibility of their world, her work invites hands-on discovery and wonder. She is also the creator of This Book Is a Camera, which transforms into a working camera, and This Book Is a Planetarium, which contains a series of paper devices—including a functioning planetarium. A two-time nominee for the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, Kelli brings a playful yet profound approach to creativity. During the session, she’ll share more about Alphabet in Motion and the ideas behind it.

During the session, you’ll hear directly from Kelli Anderson, take part in small breakout conversations, and have the opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A. Whether you’re a designer, strategist, educator, leader, or simply looking to deepen your creative practice, this session will offer fresh perspective and practical inspiration for mastering a skill and applying it in meaningful ways.

We hope you’ll join us for this engaging and inspiring conversation!
