Human-Centered Tools for Local Government: Shaping Cities with People in Mind

Local government agencies—whether at the city, county, or township level—play a vital role in shaping people’s lives. From managing essential services and building critical infrastructure to addressing urgent challenges on the ground, their responsibilities are immense. Yet, despite their expertise, many local government offices struggle to connect with residents and design solutions that truly reflect community needs.

When local governments embrace a human-centered design approach, the results can be transformative. This method fosters trust, uncovers key insights, and ensures that solutions are both relevant and impactful.

In this two-part webinar series, local government employees will learn how to apply human-centered design principles to navigate complex challenges and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Through practical guidance and actionable strategies, participants will gain tools to create meaningful change in their communities.

Yes! They can register up until March 20, 2025.

Can I join the call on my phone?

It’s ideal to join from your computer and not a phone or tablet, so you can see and read the details we show on screen.  We will need each participant to join from their own device.

What do I need to prepare?

Please bring something to write with and paper/notebook. Print out the worksheets we will provide on the course website. (If you forget them you can still work on paper using the frameworks we will display.) We will also share a couple articles to review ahead of time.

Will my video need to be on? How much outfit planning do I need to do?

We believe our learning experience is richer when we all get to meet, see and connect with one another, and we will invite all participants to have their camera on. We promise not to be judgy about outfits or a bad hair day. That being understand we understand that life happens and that some contexts may require you to have videos off.

Something came up and I no longer will be able to attend live – will I still have access to the recording and resources?
