Futures Thinking for Strategic Decision Making

Learn how leaders can use Futures Thinking to reimagine strategy in times of uncertainty

In today’s volatile world, static plans and incremental thinking fall short.

Futures Thinking for Strategic Decision-Making is a six-week online course presented by Stanford Online that combines strategic foresight and design thinking to help leaders anticipate change, envision multiple futures, and translate foresight into action.

Led by Lisa Kay Solomon, Futurist in Residence at the d.school, participants will learn to anticipate change through horizon scanning, imagine multiple futures through scenario planning and storytelling, develop futures narratives, and embed foresight into organizational planning.

The course includes interactive exercises, case studies, hands-on office hours, and a futures-focused capstone project. Participants who complete the course receive a Stanford Online Certificate of Achievement and 4 Continuing Education Units.
