Brett Newman is a tinkerer and a builder who finds great joy blending the teaching and the practice of design
Brett graduated from the product design masters program in '02, and after 7 years working in Spain, returned to the Bay Area to co-found, Daylight Design along with three other MSPD graduates. In 2012 he rejoined the Stanford community teaching one quarter a year in the undergraduate program (visual thinking & business design). In 2018 Brett became the first core lecturer of the product design program, leading the undergraduate design capstone.
Today, Brett gets to be consistently amazed by the creativity and brilliance of students exploring the major in the fall when he teaches visual thinking to freshman and sophmores and again in the winter and spring when he gets to work with the design capstone seniors who are on their way out into the world.
