Angela Amarillas is a leader in financial education, well-being, and program development. As Program Director of Stanford’s Financial Wellness Program, she designs and implements financial education initiatives and teaches WELLNESS 183: Financial Wellness for a Healthy, Long Life. She has lectured at Stanford in Human Biology, the Graduate School of Education, and the d.school, teaching courses on gender, culture, and HIV; peer counseling and health promotion; and financial well-being. She is currently on the teaching team for DESIGN 245: Redesigning Finance.
Angela’s career spans roles in education, wellness, and social impact. At the Alameda County Office of Education, she streamlined grant operations, and enhanced professional development for K-12 educators. At the California Healthy Kids and After School Resource Center, she managed multiple contracts on behalf of the California Department of Education, curated evidence-based programs, and provided statewide guidance on health education. Earlier in her career, she was at Sociometrics Corporation, translating behavioral science research into public health initiatives.
Angela is also a dedicated dance educator and performer. She innovates, teaches, and performs historical and vernacular social couple dance independently and with Richard Powers. Her performances and workshops have taken her across the United States and Europe, with notable appearances at the Smithsonian Institution, Lincoln Center, Academia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, Arts et Mouvement in Paris, and Dvorana Dance in Prague.
Angela holds an M.A. in Social Sciences in Education and a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford. She is an Accredited Financial Counselor and is a recognized speaker and thought leader in financial wellness and student success. Her work is driven by a passion for equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions that improve their overall well-being.
