Overview
Engage cross-cultural lenses as fuel for creativity
The magic of study abroad programs is in their ability to profoundly expand our world-views, and shape our sensitivity toward other cultures and our own. Traditionally, and even more so now, these experiences have been accessible only to a privileged few. With travel having been disrupted and virtual interactions having erupted, right now is an opportunity to reimagine: What if we could create immersive cultural experiences that every student could have?
Students will learn how to shift cultural lenses, navigate the fuzzy understanding of an unfamiliar context, and create cross-cultural experiences that can create the kind of personal impact people get from study abroad programs. Students will design cultural immersion experiences that people can experience without physically travelling. Take this class if you want to learn how to thoughtfully and skillfully use differences in culture as springboards for creativity, instead of seeing them as barriers to be overcome. This class is for students of all experience levels.
