In an era of rapid AI proliferation, the social sector has a critical role to play in shaping the future of AI. Leaders in the social sector can bring a much-needed social impact lens to AI development and application. But they need the necessary knowledge and tools to leverage AI to improve their organizations and effectively influence the technology.

In this program, the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI) and the Hasso Plattner Institute for Design (d.school) join forces to offer a highly engaging social sector educational experience that blends cutting-edge research and application with human-centered AI and social systems design frameworks. We aim to build a close-knit community of leaders to share best practices and create solutions together; demystify AI and improve professionals’ understanding of these tools and the underlying data; explore how AI can improve organizational efficiency; and support practitioners with scoping AI projects when they return to their organizations.

This two-day program (Oct. 29-30) will be hosted on the Stanford campus and involve discussions led by Stanford’s top AI scholars and expert field practitioners, a facilitated workshop, and community-building activities.
