Overview
Exploring the emerging technology of VR in healthcare
Virtual Reality (VR) is an emerging technology that is finally starting to feel like it will play a more significant role in many human experiences. While initial applications have been primarily in entertainment and gaming, we are interested in how VR might be used to improve healthcare experiences and outcomes. In this 7-week class, students will gain an introduction to VR technology and insight into the experiences of different healthcare stakeholders that are likely to benefit from VR technologies. Students will collaborate to explore multiple use cases and design opportunities for VR in these healthcare scenarios. Class sessions will be a mixture of meeting and collaborating using Zoom and in VR Immersions. (Students will be provided a VR headset for the duration of the quarter).
