What will I learn?

Overview

It is not enough to NOT be racist. We must work to be antiracist.

What does that mean? How do we see racist structures that are all around us? In the struggle to disassemble systemic oppression and racism, what will be your tools?

In this class, we will explore complex concepts of systemic and interpersonal oppression and racism, understand how these concepts manifest on our campus and in our communities, then design and prototype meaningful interventions for impact, starting on Stanford’s campus. We will leverage intentional and inclusive design methodologies to amplify the momentum of this moment, lift up others’ voices, and hone our unique skill sets to deconstruct systems of oppression and racism; let’s stock our collective toolbox, together.

This class draws from the success of our Fall 2020 d.school class, Designing Courageous Conversations for Impact and the expertise of the instructors who have been part of the University Innovation Fellows movement to change higher education.
