Who are you, the partner (organization, school, company, ...)?
What is the project? What is it about? (Please describe in 100 words or less)
Develop a website to collect user-generated reviews of web-based financial literacy programs (game and curriculum). Project might also include branching out to develop a site for teachers to rate financial literacy curriculum too. Develop marketing plan to identify low-cost ways to publicize these sites.
What is the name and email of the point person for this project?
Why is this project important? Who will this project impact?
Multiple research studies have shown how deficient students (and adults for that matter) are in making financial decisions. More and more states are now requiring high school students to complete at least one personal finance course. Hundreds of sites of varying degrees of quality have popped up to meet this need. For example, The JumpStart Coalition for Personal FInancial Literacy lists 836 resources in their Clearinghouse but no qualitative standards and no effective categorizations to assist teachers and/or students seeking high quality resources. Project will focus on K-12 teachers and students.
What are the chances of implementation of the insights, ideas, or prototypes that come out of this project?
Innovate Foundation may fund a social entrepreneur who solves this problem by helping students and teachers identify high quality financial literacy materials through "a wisdom of crowds" approach.
Generally, when are the best times of the week for students to contact you (please use pacific time zone)?
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday between 9 and 11am
Our best partnerships for student projects are the ones when our students have fantastic support and access from the partner organization. Is there any special information that our graduate students should know about the resources that are potentially available for them in this project?
I am happy to review a budget with the project team after their initial evaluation of the project scope to determine what costs Innovate Foundation will pick up.
How familiar are you (or you as a partner organization) with design thinking?
