There are 3 printing areas at the dschool; the first floor print shop for teaching teams, faculty and staff, the second floor student print shop for students and the second floor digital prototyping room.
Teaching teams, faculty and staff are encouraged to print to the Xerox copier located in the first floor copy room.
Students are encouraged to print to the Xerox copier in the second floor student copy area.
Both copy stations have identical Xerox WorkCentre 7545 multifunction printer/copier/scanner/fax machines.
Download and install the drivers for your computer and follow the instructions below to add the printers.
Brief Instructions for Mac Users - detailed instructions farther down.
MAC OSX driver:
Download and double-click the installer file If it doesn't automatically start to install. Click continue/install/accept until you see the 'Select Printer' window.
If you are connected via network cable to the Stanford net you will see the two xerox copiers in the 'Discovered Printers' list. Select both printers by clicking each while holding the shift down and click continue. In the 'Finishing Up' window, make sure that the first floor Xerox (Xerox 1) is selected as your default printer, deselect the 'print test page' et Voila! both printers are now installed.
Once installed, go to System Preferences, click on Print & Fax, select your new Xerox Workcentre printer in the list on the left and then click the 'Options and Supplies' button on the right. On the 'General' tab you can change the printer name if you'd like. Next select the 'Driver' tab. Select the 'Finisher' drop-down list and choose 'Office Finisher LX'. Leave all other defaults, click OK and you are finished. Repeat for the other copier.
If you are connected to the Stanford wireless network, In the Select Printer window you'll need to click on the printer icon on the right. In the 'IP Address or DNS Name' field type either d-xerox1 for the first floor copier or d-xerox2 for the second floor copier and select Xerox Workcentre 7545 in the 'Select Printer Model' drop-down list. Click continue and a confirmation pop up message will indicate that the printer has been created. Click OK and then deselect the 'Print Test Page' option on the 'Finishing UP' window and click finish.
These last steps are required to complete the configuration:

Printing Instructions for Mac Users
First, download the appropriate printer installer file for your computer and double-click it to install the drivers.
Next, go to System Preferences, Print & Fax, click on the + to add a printer, click on IP Printer, Protocol = Line Printer Daemon – LPD, Address = d-dell2 and name of “dschool proto rm”, click the Print Using down arrow, Select Printer Software, type in Dell in the search box, select the Dell 5110cn driver, click add, select Memory Capacity and set to 1152MB, click continue and you should be all set.
Printing Instructions for Windows Users
Select the driver above that matches your operating system - Windows 32bit or Windows 64bit, click on the driver file to download it to your machine and run the file to install the drivers. Note which folder the drivers are installed into.
Go to Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes, click Add A Printer, next, and select “local printer attached to this computer. Make sure that the “automatically detect and install my plug and play printer” is unchecked. Click “Create a new port”, click the down arrow and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click next. In the printer name or IP Address type: d-dell2, leave the port name with the default and click Next, accept the default and then Finish. In the next window, click the “Select Printer Driver” button, scroll down to search for Dell Inc. in the Manufacturer listand the Dell Color Laser 5110cn PCL6 printer and click next. If you don’t see Dell in the manufacturer list you’ll need to click the Have Disk button and browse to the folder where the drivers were installed, select the driver file, click OK and next. Name the printer “dschool proto rm”, click next, next, select no, next and finish and you should be all set.
Xerox printer install for Mac - detailed instructions:

Once complete, go to System Preferences/Print and Fax/Printing, select your new Xerox Workcentre printer on the left and click the Options & Supplies button on the right.
Here is where you can change the name of the printer if you'd like. (e.g. dschool xerox 1st floor)
