Juntos Finanzas, a startup that provides personal financial tools to Latino communities, began as a project led by d.school student Ben Knelman in our LaunchPad class in 2010. Since then, the startup has gained global recognition and Knelman has been named one of The World Economic Forum’s “Global Shapers” under 30. Here’s an update from the Juntos team on what the startup has been up to recently:
At the G20 Summit in Mexico City last week, Juntos was announced the global winner of the G20′s innovation award for financial inclusion! We still can’t believe it! Over 250 entries were considered for the award and its 100k prize. Our whole team got to attend the events in Mexico City, and the people we met & conversations we had in Mexico City are accelerating our expansion outside of the U.S.
In June at the annual CFSI Underbanked Financial Services Conference, Juntos was voted the financial service industry’s “best new product” for the underserved by hundreds of industry executives assembled! Many innovative companies were considered for the competition, and the other 3 finalists included 2 publicly traded companies and a startup with 2.3M in funding.
