Stuart Coulson
Lecturer, Entrepreneurial Design for Extreme Affordability
Stuart discovered Entrepreneurial Design for Extreme Affordability at the d.school and knew he had found the perfect place to use his experience and interests to try to do some good, while at the same time continuing to learn and grow his skills. After mounting a significant pester campaign, the Extreme teaching team finally gave in and offered Stuart a chance to join them. Since then Stuart has become steadily more involved with the course, and has so far managed to hide the fact that he is learning far more than he is teaching.
Stuart tries to bring his entrepreneurial and commercial background to the process of Business Planning with the Extreme project teams, and is interested in how Design Thinking is best applied to that aspect of the innovation process.
Stuart was born and raised in Ireland, but has lived and worked in various parts of the world, before moving to Palo Alto. It would be nice to list a bunch of diverse extra-curricular interests, but, apart from enjoying playing with his kids, sadly, or luckily, Stuart’s hobbies are business, entrepreneurship, innovation, economics and venture funding. He buys far more non-fiction books than he will ever be able to read, and lives vicariously through the excitement, enthusiasm and vitality of the startup teams he works with.
