Steph Habif

Raised on the east coast by generations of physicians and nurses, Dr. Steph Habif was destined for the healthcare system. She broke the family mold by not attending medical school, and instead, pursued her passions in sport and psychology. After working alongside internationally renowned sport psychologists at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Steph earned a doctorate in health behavior science from Columbia University in New York.
Throughout her studies, sport kept her grounded: Steph was a 1st team All-America volleyball player at Washington University in St. Louis, during which time the team won four NCAA national championship titles. She also rode her bicycle across the United States (4,532 miles) in 1998 to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research, and has almost a decade worth of experience as a multi-sport athlete.With 15 years of higher ed and private industry consulting under her belt, she arrived at Stanford last year as an affiliate of the Persuasive Technology Lab. New San Francisco and the d.school, she is excited to share her expertise in performance psychology and behavioral science with anyone who wants to design for health.
